How many photos do you take?
The number of pictures taken varies depending on the format of the wedding or portrait session and specific client wishes. In a onehour portrait session, you can expect a minimum of 150 edited photographs. For longer wedding coverage, you can expect at least 75 photographs per hour. We edit the pictures and correct for color and exposure when needed.
Please note that we aim for quality rather than quantity.
What are the advantages of digital over film?
Modern digital cameras offer many advantages over film. High capacity memory cards hold 400 or more photos. Film needs to be changed every 36 photos for 35mm or every 12-15 photos for medium format film.
We record photos in raw format which makes it easier to make corrections for exposure and color balance.
Digital images can be easily emailed or placed on websites, whereas images on film need to be scanned; high quality film scans are expensive.
If we want a few images in black and white, sepia or with special effects such as soft focus, can you do this?
Yes, we can do this for a few selected images at no additional charge .
What is your preferred style of photography?
Based on client's wishes, we provide a mix of styles including traditional posed photographs and documentary or photojournalism. We find beauty in simple, fresh photographs that tell a story, capture the emotion of the moment or the personality of the subject(s). Several clients have described our photographs as magazine style images.
How far in advance should I reserve a photographer?
If you are planning on holding your wedding or scheduling your portrait session during summer, we recommend retaining a photographer six months to one year in advance. Summer is wedding season in Hawaii! Weekends also book up fast.
